When not traveling, writing, leading a group or speaking, Judith Valente was a senior correspont for WGLT Public Radio. Ms. Valente has won more than a dozen awards at the station. including two 2015 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Investigative Series (Radio). She was named one of the two best reporters in Illinois by the Illinois Associated Press Broadcasters Association in 2018.

As a journalist, Ms. Valente has contributed to many Public Television news shows, both nationally and locally in Chicago and Bloomington-Normal, Illinois.
