Judith Valente and Chicago poet Albert DeGenova will read from their new poetry collections at a special Saturday evening Tea & Poetry Valentine's Day program entitled "Love Poems to Life" at Immaculate Conception Parish, 1421 N. North Park Street, Chicago. Poetry program and wine, cheese and tea reception begins at approximately 5:45 p.m. (following the 5 p.m. Mass). Program is free and open to the public.

Judith Valente and Charles Reynard are the featured readers at Glitterati Hair Studio, as Glitterati celebrates the first Friday of businesses staying open late in downtown Bloomington. TValente will read from her most recent collection, "Discovering Moons," as well as new work, and Charles Reynard will reading from his forthcoming chapbook, "The Utility of Heartbreak." Printers Row 2010 Lit Fest. Judith Valente will read with other poets and fiction writers who are featured in the 2010 Tall Grass Writers Anthology at 10 a.m. in the Poetry Tent near Dearborn and Harrison in the Printers Row neighborhood of downtown Chicago. The theme of this year's Tallgrass anthology is "Seasons of Change."

At noon in the Poetry Tent, Judith Valente will read with other poets featured in the 10th anniversary issue of the Chicago literary journal, Afterhours.

Elm Street, Fargo, N.D. for "Building A Monastery of the Heart," a mult-sensory program of writing, discussion, music, video and photography on living a more contemplative life in the modern world. 14-15 - The 2010 Faith, Reason, and World Affairs Symposium,  Concordia College, 901 8th Street ThiS., Moorhead, MN 56562. This year's theme is "Awakening to Wonder: Re-enchantment in a Post-Secular Age" and will explore the role of wonder in contemporary culture. At a break-out session on from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Wednesday September 15,  Judith Valente will speak on "Words As Bread and Wonder," using her own poetry as well as the writings of Thomas Merton and "The Rule of St. Benedict."

Also on Wednesday September 15, Judith Valente will moderate the Symposium's closing panel discussion from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. with Dr. Adam Frank, professor of astrophysics as the University of Rochester; Dr. Michael Saler, professor of history at the University of California, Davis; Dr. Ronald Thiemann, professor of theology, Harvard Divinity School, and Dr. Evelyn Tucker, adjunct professor, Yale School of Forestry and Yale Divinity School.
